Arcology’s process and deliverables were second to none. With a full client steering committee, they were able to engage with every facet of our business, from operations down to look and feel, expectation and financials. We stand in agreement that they delivered on expectations – Job well done!

Peter Torstensson : GM – Medad Print & Packaging LLC

Medad was established in 1999 and has built a reputation as the UAE’s industry expert, through consistent quality, outstanding creativity and high marketing impact. Using a unique combination of design excellence, technical expertise and innovative thinking, Medad creates excellent value solutions for modern marketing challenges.

Medad prints quality packaging that protects and promotes brands of many of the leading manufacturing organizations in the GCC, serving markets across the Middle East, North Africa and into Europe, in sectors ranging from food and FMCG to Pharmaceuticals.

Complementing its continuously updated world-class folded carton manufacturing facility in Sharjah, Medad sought to open a dedicated Design Centre in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), Dubai, which would offer customers a unique environment to develop optimized tailor-made material neutral packaging solutions.

The facility would serve as a hands-on design and workshop space for Dubai clients whereby MEDAD could involve them in their 4-step custom process.

Arcology and MEDAD were finalists in the MEIDAA Awards 2015

Design Solution

Flexibility and sustainability were key drivers along with a restricted budget and program.

A high density self pigmented  MDF-equivalent allowed to streamline the build process by reducing the finishing steps required for the lattice wall and bulkhead details.

Recycled and recyclable solid surfacing  serves as the worktop surface with stained reconstituted veneer  being used in the detailing of the Coffee Bar , Designers Station and screens.

The working presentation wall innovatively houses a HD integrated LCD screen to behind low iron glass with surround lacquered black to ensure that when the screen is not being used, the entire wall serves as a full glass ‘black’ board.

Simple yet effective design solutions accompanied with clever, cost effective yet long lasting material selection resulted in an award-winning facility within a very limited budget.
